According to nearby residents, an explosion occurred on the road near the Southern entrance to the Shwedagon pagoda on June 12, around 9am.

A woman that works as a sanitation worker for the municipal was allegedly injured from the blast. 

"There was a loud sound in the morning. People thought it was just a tire bust until the soldiers and policemen came. I hear a woman sanitation worker was hurt somewhere to her back or her bottom," said a person that lives nearby.

After the incident, security forces were seen to have taken up post at Shwedagon Pagoda.
