Ex Lower House Speaker to set up a party

Union Betterment Party (UBP) led by Former Lower House Speaker Thura Shwe Mann submitted an application to the Union Election Commission (UEC) in Nay Pyi Taw to set up a political party, on February 5.

Kyaw Hsan, a member of Union Betterment Party (UBP) said: “We submit the application to the UEC for the establishment of our party. The UEC accepted the application and gave the receipt voucher as our application included the required facts.”

Union Betterment Party includes 12 people from the Union Parliament Legal Affairs and Special Cases Assessment Commission.

We name the party “Union Betterment Party” to serve the interest of the country and the people. The party’s objective is to establish the federal democratic country, ensure the economic growth and ensure rule of law.

The party is comprised of 19 members—seven retired army officers and 12 civilians.
