SITTWE- Eleven Media Group (EMG) and wellwishers yesterday donated 50 rice bags to about 500 Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) currently arrive in Kansauk village in Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State.

Starting from December 19th, the IDPs abandoned their lands to the flash battles between government’s army and Arakan Army (AA) and they are now living on the ground by building the huts. However, they are in urgent need of ration.

“We are very glad about the donation. Actually, we want to live our houses but we have to flee to safer places due to the battles. Although we want to return back home, we didn’t dare to go to our villages. We worry about the health problem. Water is available because the stream is near. The medical staff are providing healthcare services,” said one of the IDPs sheltering at the Kansauk monastery.

There are totaling 134 households providing 494 family members sheltering at the Kansauk monastery.

“We thanked EMG for donation of rice bags. As we already hear the gunfire, we worry that the bullets would be dropped at the villages. So, we run away from the village. We can get troubles if there is no aid,” said Maung Than Htay from Kyunthayar village.

“There have been many difficulties in the Kansauk refugee camp. Mainly, we need the ration. No one knows how long they stay here. That’s why, we thank EMG and wellwishers for their donation,” said Thingar Kyaw, the administrator of the Kansauk villagers.

Similarly, the EMG and wellwishers donated 100 rice bags on January 11th for Mro, Arakan and Kami nationals arriving in Warhtaung village, Kyauktaw Township from upper Yoechaung village.

There are totaling over 2900 IDPs sheltering at the refugee camps in Warhtaung, Taungmin Kalar, Kansauk and Myathle villages in Kyauktaw Township.
