YANGON-Due to current outbreak of COVID-19 disease, the domestic flights already have been suspended temporarily, according to the sources.
“Under the instruction of the National Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19, the Ministry of Transport and Communications is going to announce the notice about temporarily suspension of domestic flights. The number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar has surged daily by daily. Due to the situation, the staffs from the domestic flights are vulnerable to infect with the disease. So, some domestic airlines suspended their flight schedules by themselves,” Kyaw Myo, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications told to the Daily Eleven Newspaper.
“The Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) will suspend its domestic flights from September 11th to 30th. But, plans are underway to operate international relief flights in accordance with the rules and regulations,” said MNA’s CEO Capt Than Tun.
Likewise, other domestic flights from Mann Yadanarpon, Golden Myanmar, Air KBZ and Air Thanlwin already ceased their operations until September 30th.
Due to the Quarantine Programs for the aircraft passengers, the number passengers who will be going to entire Myanmar by air already decreased.
Myanmar had suspended all international flights on March 31st. But, relief, cargo, medical evacuation and special flights approved by the Department of Civil Aviation aren’t affected by the suspension.
