Customs Department seizes over 12 billion kyats of undeclared goods in November

The Customs Department has reported that it seized more than 12 billion kyats worth of goods that were imported or exported without proper documents in November.

The department conducted 346 cases of seizures at Yangon International Airport, Port, Special Watch, General Post Office in Yangon, and various Customs Areas from November 1 to November 30. The total value of the seized goods was K12,498.118 million.

The department also revealed the statistics of seizures for the previous months of 2023. According to the department, more than 10 billion kyats worth of undeclared goods were seized in October and August, more than 9 billion kyats worth of undeclared goods were seized in September, July, and June, more than 4 billion kyats worth of undeclared goods were seized in April, and more than 11 billion kyats worth of undeclared goods were seized in March and February. In January, the department seized about K6,221 million kyats worth of undeclared goods.

The department said that it was checking for importing or exporting of goods without any supporting documents and preventing them at various locations. It urged the public to comply with the customs laws and regulations and to declare their goods properly.
