NAYPYITAW----Lisu National Development Party (Cross-Bow Party) urged the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) to strive for the implementation of equal rights for ethnic with the aim to build a Federal Democratic Union.

“Our party aims to work hard to ensure equal rights for all the races in the country whether they are from mountainous areas or plain-land regions. That’s why we urged the ruling NLD to implement it,” said Shwe Min (aka) Hsi Pha Larlu, Chairman of Lisu National Democratic Party.

After NLD had won landslide victory in general election-2020, they sent an open letter dated on November 12th to 48 ethnic political parties inviting them to join in work for the emergence of a democratic federal union.

The Lisu National Democratic Party received the NLD’s open letter on November 17th. The party later released a statement on November 19th that they welcomed the NLD’s offer.

Likewise, Kachin State People’s Party officially replied to the NLD’s offer on November 18th.

However, some ethnic political parties remarked that they welcomed the NLD’s offer as a positive view. But, the matters of the letter were unclear.

Some critics said that NLD wanted to reform its steps for forming a new government with some ethnic political parties.

Dr Zaw Myint Maung, NLD’s Vice-Chair-2 replied to the media on November 17th that they were going to discuss about the ethnic affairs. But, he can’t say about the forming of a new government.

29 candidates from Lisu National Development Party competed in general election 2020 in Kachin State, Shan State and Mandalay Region. They won the seats for Lisu ethnic affairs Minister in Kachin State and Regional Parliament Constituency No.1 in Khaunglanphue Township.
