Court to decide bail for ministers including Mdy CM on May 31

The issue of allowing bail for ministers including Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung will be ruled by Mandalay District Court on May 31, sources said.

Both sides gave argumentation to grant bail for Dr Zaw Myint Maung, Mayor Dr Ye Lwin, Minister for Farming and Irrigation Dr Soe Than, Minister for Electricity Zarni Aung and Secretary Tin Ko Ko of National League for Democracy (NLD) Party for the region on May 13.

Aungmyaythasan Township Court refused the bail of Dr Zaw Myint Maung, who applied for bail for health reasons and he filed an appeal to the district court.

The Central Executive Committee of NLD released five statements and the Assistant Director of General Administrative Department lodged a complaint as the statements may cause fear or panic to the public or have a reason to do so or harm rules of law and present government.

Dr Zaw Myint Maung has been sued under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code and Section 25 of natural disaster law and Mayor Dr Ye Lwin is being charged under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code at the Aungmyaytharsan Township court while the construction and electricity minister Zarni Aung and farming and irrigation minister Dr Soe Than is being charged under Section 25/30 of natural disaster law. The natural resource minister Myo Thit is being charged under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code while Mandalay's municipal member Kyaw Zayya is being sued under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code as well at Chanayetharsan Township court due to the statements released by the NLD.
