NAYPYITAW-------The court rejected a request from State Counsellor to hold its hearings every two weeks instead of weekly, says a lawyer from Legal Defence Team which helps the cases of the President and State Councellor.

President Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi were appeared at a special court in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

A lawyer said that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi applied for hearings to take place every two weeks instead of weekly “On the grounds of her health”. However, the court decreed that the hearings would be held in a weekly.

“The hearings were held around 9am on Monday. It just liked the previous hearings. We met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Wing Myint separately and discussed about the cases with them. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi didn’t say anything of importance,” said a lawyer.

The State Counsellor currently faces Disaster Management Act Section 25, Import-Export Law Section 8 and Telecommunications Act Section 67. The special court held the hearings of above charges every Monday.

Moreover, the President, the State Counsellor and Dr Myo Aung are being charged against Penal Code Section 505(b) and they were appeared at a court in Nay Pyi Taw every Tuesday. Moreover, State Counsellor is now facing the charges of Corruption and Secret Act.

Those charges were in a separate trial recently held in Nay Pyi Taw.
