Chlorination and other preventive measures were carried out in several wards of Thaketa Township on the morning of August 26 to prevent and control outbreaks of diarrheal disease, according to the township health authorities.

Health officials conducted chlorination at residential homes in affected wards and distributed water purification tablets to residents. They also tested water quality using water-testing equipment, including checking the level of residual chlorine in drinking water.

Dr. Khine Khine Win, head of the Thaketa Township Public Health Department, said health officials, together with Rapid Response Teams from the Public Health and Medical Treatment departments, relevant government departments, charitable organizations and ward administrators, had conducted field activities in the wards.

“Yesterday, we visited four wards, and today we visited three wards. We carried out chlorination at homes as part of measures to prevent and control diarrheal diseases. We also tested the residual chlorine levels in the water and distributed water purification tablets,” Dr. Khine Khine Win said.

She added that health education was also provided to residents on ways to prevent diarrheal diseases.
