A Chinese traveller arriving at Yangon Airport via a China Southern Airlines flight on January 31 was being discharged from the Waibargi Hospital as the lab results showed he is not infected with 2019 novel coronavirus, said Dr Khin Khin Gyi, deputy director of the Central Infectious Disease Control Centre of Public Health Department.

The health authorities had taken nasopharyngeal swabs from the patient and sent it to the reference laboratory and he is found not infected with the 2019 novel coronavirus. He is in good health, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports on February 3.

He, along with two Myanmar citizens onboard the same plane, was allowed to be discharged from the hospital, it said.

Moreover three more patients with possible coronavirus symptoms were found in Minbya, Kengtong and Yangon, announced the ministry on February 2.

A 38 year old man from Minbya Township, Rakhine State arrived back from China on January 20 had coronavirus symptoms and he was quarantined at isolation ward in Minbya Hospital and the doctors are monitoring him, it said.

Moreover a 14-month old baby from Sichuan Province, China, who is visiting Myanmar with the child’s family, had coronavirus symptoms and was admitted to a clinic in Kengtong on January 19. The child was sent to Kengtong Hospital for further examination. The condition of the patient is stable and the five family members are being watched although they haven’t shown the symptoms of coronavirus.

A private hospital in Yangon informed Central Infectious Disease Control Centre, Public Health and Medical Services departments for Yangon Region about a 15-year old child from Taiwan with possible coronavirus symptoms on February 1 and the child was being transferred to Waibargi Hospital, said the announcement.
