An international railway carriage along the China-Myanmar new passage (Chongyun-Lancang-Myanmar) would leave Chongyun on May 23 and arrive in Mandalay city of Myanmar on July 6 after a journey of 15 days, according to a statement released by the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar.

The carriage carries 60 containers of international standard containing machinery, electrical accessories, cars and spare parts. The train will leave China via Lancang border gate in Yunnan Province in the form of railway-cum-road transport and is expected to arrive in Mandalay after 15 days.

The new passage will reduce the regular period of transport by 20 days thereby cutting 20% of capital expenditure on commodity flow, the embassy’s statement said.

On May 21 also, the China-Laos train on the new road-waterways passage left Chongyun on May 21 and would arrive in Vientiane after four days, the Chinese embassy announced.

Meetings at union and lower levels took place to reopen the Chinese-Myanmar border gates by June.
