Chaung Thar Beach to hold BeachFestival

To attract more visitors to Chaung Thar Beach, Tourism Promotion Festival will be held at the beach for three days starting from November 19 to November 21.

At present, visitors’ arrivals have been declining at the beach. Not to reduce benefits gained from the tourism industry at the Chaung Thar Beach, the beach festival will be held as a tourism promotion according to members of organizing committee of the Beach Festival.

“With the permission from the Ayeyawaddy Region government and in cooperation with Myanmar Hoteliers Association and associations in the village, we are going to hold this beach festival as a tourism promotion,” said Than Htay, member of organizing committee of the Beach Festival.

There will be over 100 stalls from the local vendors selling local food and products. On the opening night of November 19, there will be a stage show programme, on November 20, there will be an entertainment programme comprising of vocalists such as R-Zarni, Aung La, Wai Su Khine Thein, and Thar Nge. On November 21, there will be Myanmar traditional wrestling programme of men and women competition.

Chaung Thar Beach is about 1.3 miles long and, there are 7 wards and 7 villages with 2927 households living there. It is a village and beach resort located in Ayeyawaddy Region. Chaungtha Beach, as it is more commonly known, is about 5 hours' drive away from Yangon and is a popular resort with Yangon people from October to April. Because of local and foreign travelers, it is one of the places where most taxes are getting.
