The police have arrested a broker involved in the case against the trafficked Dagon University student, Police Colonel Myo Thu Soe, Deputy Head of Anti-Human Trafficking Squad confirmed.
“He was trafficked by three persons. They are one man and two women. Of them, one man has been detained in Pyapon. Yesterday (November 22), a case was opened at Kyauktada Township Police Station under the Anti-Human Trafficking Law, said Police Colonel Myo Thu Soe.
Myat Thura Tun was trafficked on October 2 while he went to the downtown Yangon to perform his family’s works. He had to work there for one and a half months. The brokers sold him to the wholesale fishing business, for Ks 700,000. He was released as his parents paid the money. He was injured as he was tortured by a supervisor of the fishing raft.
The police made an investigation into the case after the case went viral on facebook. The police are searching for the rest who sold the victim to the fishing raft in Pyapon.
Currently, the police are interrogating an official from the wholesale fishing business in Pyapon Township.
