From October 1 to 5, in 2018-2019 FY, the border trade volume reached over US$ 80.793 million, up US$ 12.611 million compared with the same period last year, according to the figures from the Commerce Ministry.
Last year, the border trade volume hit US$ 68.182 million. The trade volume at the major border trade camp in Muse has declined slightly. The trade volume at Muse border trade camp amounted to US$ 46.615 million, accounting for more than 50 per cent of the total border trade value.
During the same period last year, the trade volume at Muse border trade camp reached US$ 48.841 million, down US$ 2.226 million this year.
In Myanmar, the major border trade camps are Muse trade camp in Myanmar- China border and Myawady trade camp in Myanmar-Thailand border.
Myanmar’s export volume at Muse trade camp reaches over US$ 25 million and import volume, over US$ 21 million.
Myanmar’s export volume at Myawady trade camp hit over US$ one million and import volume, over US$ eight million.
The commerce ministry is taking measures to reduce the trade deficits, reduce relaxations and encourage the private sector.
Myanmar’s border trade camps are: Muse, Lweje, Chinshwehaw, Kanpiketi, Kengtung, Tachilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Nabule/Htikhee, Mawtaung, Mase, Sittwe, Maungdaw, Tamu, Reed and Htantalan.
