Blasts occurred in Yankin, Thingangyun, Hlaingthayar and Lathar townships on May 4, sources said.

“We heard two loud explosions around 9 pm but I don’t know where the explosions came from,” said a person living in Yankin.

Moreover an explosion was heard near Ngamoyeik railway station in Thingangyun Township around 1 pm, sources said.

“No one had injured in the incident as there are less trains travelling in the area,” said a person who lived nearby.

Another explosion occurred at No.3 Basic Education High School in Hlaingthayar Township on the afternoon of May 4. The blast occurred while people were gathered to hold a meeting to reopen the school. No one was injured in the incident. Security forces are deployed at the school after the blast, sources said.

Similarly, an explosion occurred near Lathat Township police station in the evening, according to people who lived nearby.
