Myanmar is ready to accept returnees but Bangladesh is not cooperating with Myanmar officials, said Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for State Counsellor’s Office.

He attended the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia held at Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan on May 31 and delivered a speech under the title of “Is Asia a Primer for a Global Trade Order”.

He explained the arrangements to accept the returnees and the government can implement the repatriation process as early as possible with safety and dignity in line with the agreement between Myanmar and Bangladesh.

The Union Minister met with Taro Kono, Foreign Minister for Japan at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the evening and discussed about promoting bilateral relations, internal peace process, economic cooperation and Bangladesh’s lack of cooperation to accept the ICoE’s proposal to go to Bangladesh although the agreement had been made with the Foreign Ministry.
