Some of the prisoners from Insein prison were released on August 1, including some of those sentenced under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code, said a person present in front of the prison.

It started at around 2 pm on August 1, and some of those sentenced under Section 505 (a) were included.

"As far as we know, there are people sentenced under Section 505 (a) are included among those released now. There are young women also included. It is known that they have been served their sentence for at least a year and a half," said a person present in front of Insein prison.

It was later learned that only about 20 women who had been sentenced under Section 505 (a) were among those released.

They were carried by YBS vehicles and school buses.

The State Administration Council (SAC) announced on August 1 that 7,749 prisoners serving sentences in various prisons and detention centers will be released.
