A total of 500 prisoners from prisons and labour camps in Mon State were released on amnesty on August 1 (Full Moon day of Waso), according to people close to the Correctional Department.
A total of 82 male prisoners and 14 female prisoners from Kyaikmaraw Central Prison, 65 male prisoners and 37 female prisoners from Mawlamyine Prison and 119 prisoners from Thaton Prison were released on parole.
In addition, 38 prisoners from Ingabo labour camp, 12 prisoners from Taungzun labour camp, 16 prisoners from the Zinkyaik labour camp, 29 inmates from the Yinnyein labour camp, 8 prisoners from Innbyaung labour camp, 12 prisoners from Malarphu labour camp, 29 male prisoners and 39 female prisoners from Muppalin labour camp, totaling 410 male prisoners and 90 female prisoners, were released on amnesty.
