The Ministry of Education stated that the incident at No. 6 Basic Education High School in Myaungmya occurred last year, and the two students involved, along with the student who recorded the video, were handed over to their parents at that time. The case, now circulating on social media, is currently under investigation by a departmental team.

The Ministry of Education made the announcement in response to media inquiries about how the gang-bullying of students in Myaungmya took place.

The video clip of the student fight that was circulating on social media on June 18 was a video clip that took place outside school hours on November 18, 2024, during the 2024-2025 academic year. The Ministry of Education announced that the school disciplinary committee called the student and the parents of the fight and questioned them about the matter on November 19.

The Ministry of Education announced that the two Grade-7 and Grade-9 students who beat the Grade-6 student in the video were thoroughly questioned and that the student who was beaten was the victim and no action was taken. The two students who beat and the Grade-7 student who recorded the incident were returned to their parents by the school disciplinary committee for violating school rules and were made to sign a notice to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

The Ministry of Education announced that this incident did not occur in the 2025-2026 academic year, and that the school is taking measures to prevent such incidents from happening again, and that an unknown account, which is still under investigation, re-posted the video from last year on social media.

Regarding the spread of the video on social media, the Ministry of Education announced that on June 19, a departmental investigation team headed by U Htay Win, the education officer of Myaungmya District, is investigating the incident.
