Authorities announced the two-month extension of curfew in Maungdaw on October 11, sources said.

The army and security forces need the curfew to have rules of law and stability in line with law, the announcement said.

Following the violent attacks made by the ARSA terrorist group on August 25, 2017, General Administrative Department of Maungdaw Township announced a curfew order to ban gatherings of five or more people in public places from 10 pm to 5 am on August 11, 2019 and it is now extended for two months.
