Power of attorney has not be granted for the charge against State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi under the official secrets act of Myanmar, said advocate San Marlar Nyunt, who is helping with the case.
A court hearing for the State Counsellor charged under Section 3 (1) (c) /9 of the law was due on April 8.
“We haven’t been granted to act as lawyers for her. So we can’t do anything. The next hearing is on April 22,” said lawyer San Marlar Nyunt.
Power of attorney has been sought since March 23 but it has not been granted yet.
“As we have not been granted attorney power. We don’t have a chance to read the case file. We only know about the section of the law under which she is charged. We don’t know any other thing,” the lawyer added.
Regarding several other charges under Section 25 of the disaster management law, Section 8 of the export/import law, Section 67 of the telecommunications law and Section 505 (b) of the penal code, another court hearing for Aung San Suu Kyi is scheduled on April 12 at Zabuthiri Township Court in Nay Pyi Taw.
