Army seizes narcotics drugs worth millions of Kyats in Kachin and Rakhine

The army seized narcotics worth millions of Kyats in Kachin and Rakhine states on September 6, announced Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services on September 7.

Security forces found 8,170 WY tablets worth Ks16 million from a house owned by Swe Yak Tu Sai in Lathar Village, Myo-U village tract, Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State on September 6, it said.

The authorities also searched his daughter’s home beside his house and also found 446,500 WY tablets worth over Ks890 million from a secret hole in the floor, it said.

They confessed that they bought the WY tablets from Sirazu Islam and his brother Pwe Yakzu Islam lived in Maungdaw and the police arrested Sirazu Islam. His brother is still at large.

Moreover the security forces stopped an unregistered car driven by Naw Baran at Kyauksakan checkpoint in Momauk Township, Kachin State on September 6 after a tip-off and found 1,450 grams of heroin worth over Ks140 million secretly stored inside colorful soap containers, the announcement said.

The police lodged a complaint against them at Banmaw Township police station, it said.
