Reports indicate that a ward administrative official was fatally shot on December 6 at around 5 p.m. in Amarapura Township, Mandalay.

The victim has been identified as U Zaw Thu Ya Htun, an administrative official from Myitnge Ward in Amarapura Township.

According to sources, two men on a motorcycle approached U Zaw Thu Ya Htun while he was waiting to pick up a child from a school in Thayar Aye Village. They shot him with a firearm during the encounter.

U Zaw Thu Ya Htun sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the left side of his chest and died at the scene.
