The government will take action unequivocally within the law if the certain issues are found to be able to “harm people” said State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi on February 13.

“Our party had not broken our promises and pledges given to the people and it won’t happen in the future. If they had happened, the government will take action as per the law without bias. I want to urge all responsible people, of whose duties are to serve the people, to do so openly, honestly and precisely,” said Suu Kyi.

All parties need to participate to develop the Taninthayi Region, said the State Counsellor.

“The region is not one of the richest regions in our country. Everyone needs to work together to develop the region. The Union Government will also help as much as it can,” she said.

The Union Government had been providing equal amount of assistance for all 14 regions and states, she said.

“The country is not rich and so the Union Government cannot support much. However, it is still duty of governments across all states and regions to efficiently utilize any assistance provided by the Union Government,” she said.

She went on to state that everyone needs to be concentrate on their duties and is an obligation towards the country.

The State Counsellor arrived in Myeik on February 13 to begin her trip to Myeik, Kawthoung and Dawei.

She met with locals in Myeik and students at No.7 Basic Education High School in Myeik. She will visit Pale Island, Wa Ale Island, Makyone Galat Salone Village in Lanpi Marine National Park today. She will visit Kawthoung next and Dawei on February 15.
