Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said he does not understand whether the election is internationally recognized or not, and he recognizes the people’s vote.
Acting President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, after observing the voting in Chanmyathazi Township, met with the media and answered a reporter’s question about the statements made by UN experts and some internationals about the election.
“The people who live inside Myanmar vote. Those who live outside them do not vote. The people who live inside Myanmar vote. They support whomever they want. They can support whatever they want. Those who vote because the candidates they want to support include in the election. If those who want to support are not participated in the election, they will not come to vote,” Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
In addition, the people have the right to vote freely in the election, and the voters come to vote because they want to support someone, and the people’s vote is recognized, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
“There are two reasons for not voting. One is that they don’t vote because the people they want to support are not included in the election. The other is that they don’t vote because of security concerns. It is because they faced difficulty to come. Those who come to vote because there are people they want to support. Among them is the Union Solidarity and Development Party, People Pioneer Party and White Tiger Party. There are many parties. That’s why we also publish the voter list. They vote freely. Is it not? We don’t understand whether foreign countries recognize it or not. We recognize people’s vote,” the acting president said.
In addition, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that the international community needs to know the true situation in Myanmar.
“People should do good for the country. They need to broaden their perspective. That’s what I’m saying. The international community also needs to know the true situation in Myanmar. When foreign officials come to Myanmar, they say that what they hear outside is different from what is happening in Myanmar. Almost everyone says the same thing. So, we are being subjected to rumors and what the media is doing. In fact, we have many opportunities. If we can use these opportunities, the country will be progress. I dare to say it,” said the Acting President.
Asked whether he would participate in the new government after the election or not, “I can’t say anything yet. Because these are the methods they choose after the parliament is convened,” said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The new government has the responsibility to promote the interests of the people, to develop the country, to make the country peaceful, and to keep pace with the world, and the people need to participate, the Acting President said.
