AA’s attack on army in Kyauktaw kills a child

Arakan Army (AA) attacked an army column in Kyauktaw, Rakhine State using rocket-propelled grenades on December 6 and a child was killed in the fighting, said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, secretary of Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

“The AA attacked the army column which is providing security for Kyauktaw but no casualty is reported. The army returned fire and the child was killed amidst the fighting,” said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

Local news reported that the child who was killed in the fighting is a nine-year old Kyaw Min Myat from Kyauktaw.

Recently, a blast occurred at Chinpyantaw ward, Mrauk-U Township on December 2 killing two children and a woman.

A local found an old bomb near Kyaukpyin Settawya Monastery in Aleway ward and took it to his home. He left it on the road near his house and his sister beat it with a stone making it exploded. The explosion killed her and two children nearby and injured one man and five women, announced the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.

Series of explosions occurred in Mrauk-U Township on December 1 and 2 and the explosions injured six locals, sources said.
