The National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) announced on November 26 that it has granted amnesty to 724 prisoners serving sentences under Section 505-A of the Penal Code.
The National Defence and Security Council has set a goal to implement the multiparty democracy system that the entire people desire, in line with its focus on successfully advancing the goal. In order to ensure that all eligible voters do not lose their right to vote in the upcoming multiparty democratic general election and to vote freely and fairly, 724 prisoners who have been convicted under Section 505-A of the Penal Code and are serving sentences in various prisons and detention centers have been granted amnesty and the remaining sentences to be served will be reduced and the offender will be released from prison with the stipulation that "if the offender commits the crime again, he or she will continue to serve the remaining sentences in addition to the current sentence".
