A total of 7,012 people serving their prison terms in the respective prisons across Myanmar have been released under a pardon from the chairman of the State Administration Council, according to Order No.1/2023 released by the SAC on January 4.
The SAC chairman pardoned the prisoners serving their jail terms in their respective prisons across the country with the aim of commemorating the Diamond Jubilee Independence Day which falls on January 4, 2023, showing compassion on social grounds, and convincing the people of the State goodwill and loving-kindness, the order says.
