A total of 689 suspects including 148 Thais, one Chinese and 540 Myanmar nationals involved in online gambling and online scams were arrested in Tachilek on February 23.

According to the tip-off, the security forces and Myanmar Police Force raided a compound owned by Kyaw Thein (aka) Khun Maung Nyo in Tonaya street of Samseng (A) Ward of Tachilek in Shan State (East) at 5:15 am on February 23. They arrested 689 suspects together with eight vehicles, 120 motorcycles and desktop computers used for online gambling according to the statement issued bySAC.

The foreigners will be transferred to their respective countries after the procedures, and Myanmar nationals will face legal action under the law.
