3rd Myanmar-Switzerland Foreign Office Consultations held in Nay Pyi Taw

The 3rd Myanmar-Switzerland Foreign Office Consultations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 4 April 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

 The meeting was co-chaired by U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Ambassador Raphael Nageli, Head of the Asia-Pacific Division of the Political Directorate of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Swiss Confederation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters pertaining to further promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation under the new Swiss Cooperation Strategy for Myanmar (2019-2023), particularly in the areas of agriculture, health, education, rural development, culture, tourism, trade and investment, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The Union Minister also appraised on the Government’s priorities and ongoing efforts for peace and national reconciliation and recent developments in Rakhine State. They also exchanged views on mutual cooperation and interests in the region and international community including ASEAN.

After the meeting, Union Minister for International Cooperation hosted a working luncheon to the Swiss delegation at the M Gallery Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.—MNA
