According to Thai news sources, 21 Myanmar nationals were arrested in Thailand’s Phop Phra district at around 1 am. on January 29 while attempting to enter the country illegally.

Thai authorities discovered the group hiding in a makeshift hut on a hill in Ban Huey Nam Nak, Phop Phra Township, during routine border security patrols. Upon inspection, officials confirmed that the individuals—15 men and 6 women—were Myanmar nationals planning to travel to Bangkok and Samut Prakan for employment.

Authorities also found 36 methamphetamine tablets in their possession. Reports indicate that each migrant had paid a broker 18,000 baht for passage into Thailand.

Thai officials have reaffirmed their commitment to tightening border security and preventing illegal crossings into the country.
