17 new COVID-19 cases detected within a week, mostly in Yangon Region

Seventeen new COVID-19 cases were confirmed between May 25 and June 1, with the majority found in Yangon Region, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The confirmed patients were identified in several townships: Hlaing (3 cases), Kamayut (2), Mayangone (2), Ahlone (2), and one case each in Shwepyithar, Botahtaung, Seikkyi Kanaungto, Pazundaung, Pabedan, Thingangyun, Hlaingthaya, and North Dagon.

Out of 1,778 individuals tested for suspected COVID-19 infection during this period, 17 tested positive, indicating a positivity rate of 0.96%, the Ministry reported.

In the previous week at the end of May, six confirmed COVID-19 cases were also reported, all from Yangon Region.
