A convoy of vehicles driven by Indian tourists, Adventures Overland, arrived at Bagan on April 18 and spent the night at the Thiripisaya Hotel.
"Twenty-seven people arrived in 13 cars at Bagan. Next they go to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda [in Mon State] on April 20 and then to Thailand through Myawaddy," said tour guide Ko Nyet.
Sanjay, leader of the Adventures Overland team, said the tour programme would last about 50 days, spanning 16,000km and 18 countries.
"As our tour has been publicised on our website and in other ways, places such as Mandalay, Yangon and Bagan will attract greater attention from the international community," said another group leader Tushar of the world-famous destinations.
Tushar said he feared too much commercialised tourism could harm the country's culture.
The tour of Myanmar was organised by Bright View Travels and Tours.
The tour is from India to London. It started on April 16 and ends on June 3. The team will be driving through Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom.
