An interior upgrading of the cultural museum located inside the Mandalay Mya Nan San Kyaw Palace which was started in October 2016 was opened on March 24, 2017, according to the Ancient Research and National Museum (Mandalay branch).

Donations for the upgrade mainly came from the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy, Air) and the Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services. Upgrading includes creating statues of nine ministries and the dormitories.

A staff at the palace said: “We do not collect entrance fees into the museum, and there are many visitors since this is the visiting season.”

The museum is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm daily. It shows King Mindon’s hand writings, photos, clothes and items used by King Thibaw, the king’s wife, and ladies-in-waiting of the king.
