Government representatives and the tourism development committee at Ngayoatkaung beach in Ngapudaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region, has met MPs to plan a scheme to boost visitor numbers.

The main obstacles faced in tourism development were limited accommodation for foreigners, reliable electricity and transport, according to Win Soe from the tourism committee.

"Vehicles cannot reach one resort and no visitors come although it has many attractions,” said Win Soe.

Minister for urban development for Ayeyarwady Region Kyaw Myint said the regional ministry of hotels and tourism had produced guidelines for the success of tourism to boost the economy while preserving the environment.
