The security of a park in Sagaing Region will be bulked up in the coming travel season, sources say.
The Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park in Yinmabin District is crowded with pilgrims from all corners of the country during the peak season in March.
“Now five police officers take security of the park. There are just too many people during the travel season,” said Aye Min Oo, secretary of the park’s pagoda trust.
The park has reportedly been wired with CCTV cameras.
Deputy Chairman Cho Oo of the trust said: “Now is not even the travel season but about 3,000 visitors come to the park on weekends.”
He said he believed the turnout would be greater than the previous years’.
