Visitor numbers at the Inwa cultural zone in Mandalay Region have increased over the same period last year.
“Last fiscal year’s ticket sales total over 70,000. Now we have sold more than 42,000 tickets and it’s only
January,” said Myint Zaw, deputy director at the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library.
He said he was confident attendance would surpass the previous year’s amount by the end of the fiscal year 2017-18 in March.
The department’s figures show over 430,000 people visited Mandalay in 2017, compared to some 380,000 in 2016. Most were foreign visitors.
