Burmese Python to defend MMA middleweight title in Yangon in November

ONE Championship plans to host another MMA championship event in Yangon in November this year, where Myanmar fighter Aung La N Sang defend his world middleweight title.

Aung La N Sang won the world middleweight title last Friday by defeating Vitaly Bigdash at “ONE Championship 56: Light of a Nation”.

Burmese Python wins championship


Myanmar’s new mixed martial arts (MMA) hero Aung La N Sang conquered Vitaly “Bigdash” on June 30 at the Thuwanna Stadium for the middleweight championship belt.

“The Burmese Python” Sang, the more experienced fighter of the two now with a 20-10 record, lost to Bigdash in January.

However, Aung La N Sang managed to exact his revenge with a unanimous decision, knocking down Vitaly’s undefeated streak to a 9-1.

Myanmar to play friendly against Thailand in Mandalay on Oct 5


The national football team will play a friendly match against Thailand in Mandalay on October 5, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has confirmed.

The game will be played at Mandalar Thiri Stadium before the Myanmar team plays against Kyrgyzstan in a home match that is part of the Asian Cup qualifying matches (Group 4).

Thailand agreed to the friendly match arranged by Myanmar.

SEA Games men’s soccer tournament to kick off on August 14


The Malaysian Olympic Committee is planning to hold a men’s soccer tournament beginning on August 14 after schedules for the 29th SEA Games was adjusted because the original dates conflicted with a religious festival.

Myanmar Football Federation to work with Japanese to lift women’s football standards

The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) will cooperate with the Japan Football Association in an effort to improve the standard of women’s football.
The National Football Academy in Yangon and the MFF will start implementing this plan this year.
Although some foreign football clubs including Inter Milan, a famous Serie-A club in Italy, offered to help the MFF, the Myanmar federation has decided to work only with the Japanese Football Association.

YANGON—Myanmar hockey teams will be practice in abroad in July to prepare for the 29th SEA Games, to be held in Malaysia.

Myanmar’s male hockey team hopes to practice in China in July, but if negotiations fall through, they will practice in Malaysia or Thailand.

Burmese Python aims to wrap up world title in MMA rematch with Russian

The MMA fighter known as the Burmese Python, Aung La N Sang, has been training hard in a bid for the world middleweight title.

Aung La N Sang said he would fight to the best of his ability in his rematch with Russian MMA fighter Vitaly Bigdash for the middleweight belt.

The fight will be held at the National Indoor Stadium in Thuwunna on June 30.

Myanmar and Asean in bid to stage young World Cup football tournament

The Myanmar Football Federation in collaboration with some Asean countries is making an attempt to host young World Cup football tournaments after 2021.

Zaw Zaw, President of the MFF, met with Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA at its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, on May 22. During the meeting Zaw Zaw requested to host Under-17 and Under-20 World Cup football tournaments.
