VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) - Teams from across the region are ready to compete at the AFF U15 Girls’ Championship 2017 being hosted by Laos from May 8-20.
The Lao Football Federation (LFF) and Asean Football Federation held a joint press conference at the LFF office on Saturday to report on the event and teams’ preparations ahead of competition this week.
All the Asean U-15 teams reported strong preparations leading up to this month’s championship.
Lao U-15 Girls Coach Mr Vongmisay Soubouakham said the regional championship would be important to all nations in assisting to develop Asean junior football.
“The Lao girls have been training for two months and they are well prepared so the team is hopeful of a strong performance on home soil,” he said.
Teams in the AFF U15 Girls’ Championship 2017 are divided into two groups with the strong Group A comprising Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand, while group B comprises the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia and Indonesia.
Today sees Thailand take on Vietnam at the Km16 National Stadium in Xaythany district at 4pm, followed by Laos facing Myanmar at the same venue at 6:30pm.
