Myanmar women win bronze

The final matches of 2017 SEA Games women's football tournament took place in Malaysia on Thursday and Myanmar had to settle for a bronze medal, while Vietnam became champions after beating Thailand on goals difference.

Vietnam beat hosts Malaysia 6-0 and Thailand defeated the Philippines 3-1. After the group matches, Vietnam and Thailand both had 10 points each but Vietnam had a goal difference of 11 to Thailand’s nine. The woeful Malaysia finished on 0 points with a negative goal difference of 18.

Myanmar had six points after two wins.

This is the fifth time the Vietnamese women's football team has won the SEA Games with other wins in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2009.
