The technical director of Myanmar's under-22s footballers, Than Toe Aung, currently competing in the South East Asian Games says a message from the state councillor has boosted spirits.
Aung San Suu Kyi told the men's team that she was proud they had reached the semi final, despite losing to the hosts, Malaysia, in the last group match. Both teams had already qualified before the dead rubber.
“I read the message to the players this morning. When they heard the message from Aung San Suu Kyi, they were in high spirits and it inspires them to win medals in the SEA Games. We’ll do our best,” said Than Toe Aung.
The team beat Singapore, Laos and Brunei in the first three matches.
