ANP presents two points in meeting with UNSG’s special envoy to Myanmar

The officials of Arakan National Party (ANP) presented two points including a false list of Bengalis arriving in Bangladesh compiled by the government of Bangladesh during their meeting with Christine Schrane Burgener, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Myanmar and party, said Tun Aung Kyaw, general secretary of the Arakan National Party (ANP), said.

UNSG special envoy and party visit Bengalis living near boundary line

Ms. Christine Schraner Burgener, the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Myanmar and party visited Rakhine State on June 18. 
During a day trip to Maungdaw Township in northern Rakhine State, the UNSG Special Envoy for Myanmar and party met Bengalis who fled to Bangladesh and returned voluntarily to Myanmar. Later, they took a group photograph at the friendship bridge in Taungpyo Letwei in Myanmar-Bangladesh border area.

UPJDC and related meetings to be held last week of this month

The meeting of Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) and its related meetings will be consecutively held in the last week of this month with the hope of being able to hold the Third Meeting of the Union Peace Conference also known as the 21st Century Panglong Conference, said Khun Myint Tun, Vice-Chairman of the PaO National Liberation Organisation (PNLO).

UEC completes compilation of voter lists for by-election


Union Election Commission has compiled the lists of eligible voters for the coming by-election, Myint Naing, a spokesperson of Union Election Commission told the Daily Eleven.

There are 13 vacant constituencies for the by-election scheduled for November 3 this year.

On June 15, the UEC finished the compilation of voter lists in Myingyan Township where there are more than 200,000 eligible voters.

Lower House parliament approved a proposal to fight against terrorism committed by ARSA terrorists in 2016 and 2017 in cooperation with international organizations in accord with Anti-Terrorism Law and provide enough security in Rakhine State.
The proposal was submitted by Lower House MP Thaung Aye representing Pyawbwe constituency, a member of Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) to the eighth regular session of the second Lower House parliament in Nay Pyi Taw on June 15.

The government will be able to take effective legal actions against corrupt civil servants after an anti-corruption law has been amended and control authorized personnel not to misuse authority, said State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.
The peace talks between State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and the residents from different fields took place in Mawlamyine, Mon State on June 14.
