State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will pay official visits to four European countries at the end of April, Zaw Htay, director general of the State Counsellor's Office, has confirmed.
She will visit Belgium, Italy, France and the UK and then China in May to attend the One Belt, One Road summit on establishing an Asian infrastructure network, Zaw Htay added.
On her way to the US last September, she stayed in London for three days and met 12 of Myanmar's ambassadors to the EU, West Asia or the Middle East and Africa.
While in London, she held talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow.
May reportedly stressed the importance of strong relations and cooperation between the UK and Myanmar. She expressed her wishes for the success of Myanmar’s reform processes.
Suu Kyi called on the UK to help agriculture, forestry, education, health and human resources development. She also made a wish for the success of the UK government’s controversial decision to leave the EU.
