YANGON- Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) will be donating cash assistance for flood victims through the Peace Commission on August 23, says Nyi Yan, United Wa State Army’s (UWSA) Second in-charge of Liaison Office in Lashio.
The FPNCC was formed with Northern seven ethnic armed groups which are the UWSA, National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), Kachin Independence Organization/Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA), Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA), Ta’ang National Liberation Army-TNLA, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army-MNDAA and the Arakan Army (AA).
“The cash donation will be made in Yangon. But, FPNCC’s leaders weren’t involved in the tour. We and some liaison officers from the FPNCC will come to Yangon,” said Nyi Yan.
The FPNCC sent letter to its members on August 3rd calling to provide aid for flood victims across the country.
“The cash aid were donated by all members of FPNCC. We are going to provide cash aid through the Peace Commission,” said Nyi Yan.
The letter also reported that it is now an important period as the trust is being built for between government, army and FPNCC for the implementation of peace process after holding the third meeting of Panglong Conference (21st Century). So, all members of FPNCC had ignored disagreements and negative views on both government and army. The FPNCC also urged its members to culture patriotism for the country.
However, the peace commission said that the cash donation was made by the UWSA and some armed groups and was held at the National Reconciliation and Peace Center in Yangon this morning.
