State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi attended Myanmar Women’s Day ceremony held in Thigaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on July 3 and delivered an opening address.
She said connecting with one another is necessary for development of a nation.
“To communicate and connect with each other is essential for the development of our country. Women are important in this role as they have to teach their children and grandchildren how to communicate. Instead of communicating in person, if the children connect each other via mobile phones, it will not be beneficial to the society. By using phones, one can gain know-how and technology but together with this know-how, all good and bad things enter the phones. To differentiate between good and bad, we must teach our children what is good and what is not,” said State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.
She added that there will be unity only when men, women, and children of a country are united. If there is cooperation and unity among citizens, the community will develop. We all know weaknesses of our country. If we look at in financial sector of our country, we all know that we face hard times. If we look at background history of our country, we are weak in moral sector, too. There are many areas that we have to put our effort. We must be proud that we have to do our best while facing weaknesses. I have said this word many times. Our country men sometimes grumble that they are very unlucky to born in Myanmar which is a poor country. But, we exert our efforts only when we face hardships and we will have opportunities to do for the interest of other people. We have to use these hardships as an opportunity.
She continued in saying that development must be increased year after year. If there is no development for this year, we have to work hard for the present year. There are opportunities as long as one live.
