The Union Election Commission (UEC) will meet election sub-commissions from across Myanmar on April 9 to discuss election procedures, commission member Myint Naing told the Daily Eleven.
"We have a meeting on April 9 and 10. We will discuss our strategic plan. As we have formed new more election sub-commissions, we have to discuss what they should know about the election process," said Myint Naing.
The UEC also met with chairmen of region and state election sub-commissions on February 7 to discuss the by-election scheduled this year.
During the meeting, UEC chairman Hla Thein called for frugality in election expenses, making correct voter lists and ensuring convenience for voters at polling booths, especially for disabled voters. He also spoke of the need to prepare for transporting polling equipment.
Currently, there are 12 vacant constituencies and the by-election date will be announced, said Myint Naing.
