State Counsellor receives Ph ex-president Arroyo

State Counsellor and Minister for Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi met a business delegation led by former Philippines President and current MP Macapagal Arroyo at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on January 10, said ministry announced.
They discussed cooperation between private plywood and furniture industries in both countries and English language training, the announcement said.
Arroyo included the State Counsellor in November 2017 meetings while Aung San Suu Kyi was in the Philippines to attend the 31st Asean Summit and related meetings.
Arroyo also hosted a dinner for Suu Kyi at the Midori Hotel in Clark, the south Manila location of an airbase.
She said both countries had signed an MoU to cooperate in agricultural and other sectors in 2018.
Philippines has donated US$3 million (4 billion kyat) to Myanmar for humanitarian assistance, the largest donation among Asean countries.
Arroyo said she recognised Myanmar as the first country to provide aid to the Philippines when Typhoon Yolanda struck the country in 2013.
The Philippines will strengthen their relationship with Myanmar and Cambodia under current President Rodrigo Duterte, Arroyo said.
