Pope Francis greetings people on his arrival to Myanmar

Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets Pope Francis currently in Myanmar at the residence of Cardinal Charles Bo, the archbishop of Yangon after on November 27th evening according to the statement of office of the Commander-in-Chief.

After the meeting, the commander-in-Chief office said in a statement on Facebook that he welcomes the visit of Pope Francis to Myanmar, all religions desire peace, harmony and justice, and Myanmar has no religious discrimination at all. It also said the military “performs for the peace and stability of the country.”

Pope also said that he was surprised by the welcome of Catholics as well as Myanmar people. He is glad to meet religious leaders from various religions in his visit. By abiding the faith of each religion, there will be more development in Myanmar. He also pray for the peace and prosperity of Myanmar, the statement stated.

High ranking officials from Commander-in-Chief Office and Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Yangon were also present on the occasion.
