A mass rally was held in support of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi at the town monument of PyiOoLwin in Mandalay Region on Monday.
Among the supporters were organisations of various ethnic groups, interfaith organisations and charity and philanthropist associations.
The ceremony was opened playing the national anthem in chorus. Members of the Islamic Council, Hindu religious group, ethnic nationals and town elders gave talks in praise of the State Counsellor.
“We’ve organise this event according to the committee’s decision and the wish of townspeople. They came from the villages in PyinOoLwin as well as from Moegok, Madaya, Singu and Thabeikkyin townships. They came here without being asked. This shows that we they are in oneness with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. We show the international media our support and trust in her,” said Ko Ko Gyi, chairman of the committee for organising the event.
During the rally, religious leaders read messages in support of the State Counsellor, and town elders and charity organisations gave talks in praise of her.
