The Upper House MPs called on the government on Wednesday (January 28) to blacklist construction companies which are not reliable and non-standardised and impose financial penalty during the parliament session.
MP Hla Swe said, “Although the cabinet suggested putting unreliable construction companies in the blacklist, we don’t know it is in practice. There are many companies which should be blacklisted.”
Upper House MP Tun Zaw said, “The MPs should work together with the cabinet members when they investigate the companies. Not only the company’s name but also the owner’s name be included in the blacklist so that they cannot register with another company’s name.”
Upper House speaker Khin Aung Myint said that the Ministry of Construction inspected 25 construction companies which the MPs reported as unreliable ones.
According to the speaker, construction companies working for the Border Affairs Ministry, Education Ministry, Health Ministry and Construction Ministry were included in the investigation.
